Fun on Swings

Saturday we took Maggie to the swingset at our church. She wasn't feeling real good, so we wanted to cheer her up. She had a good time with Daddy swinging. You will note that lamb had to accompany us on this trip. We can't go anywhere without it nowadays.

A New Trick

Maggie is learning all kinds of stuff these days. Here is her new favorite thing to do. She LOVES to stick out her tongue. It's not quite as long as Gene Simmons' tongue, but it is long. Sorry the picture is a little dark. It was a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon.

When Gramma comes to visit:

We get to run around the house naked before bathtime and go potty on the kitchen floor (she is watching herself "go").
We get to take a long, fun bath after we pee on the kitchen floor.
We go out for some Southern fried chicken at Mrs. Winner's.
We get to try on sandals in our pajamas.
We get to go outside and have the wind blow on our hair- a totally new sensation!
We get to eat some good barbeque at Judge Beans and drink our water and milk two-fisted.
We all had a great time with Gramma Sue!

An Ode to the Sippy

(an exercise in creative writing)

Oh, my dear, dear sippy cup, your calming ways are a mystery.
Never once has Maggie cried for you in her thirteen months of history.

Yet Thursday night it was a first
Supposed to be sleeping, dying of thirst.

To bed late she went, celebrating Mama's birthday
with ice cream and partying and playing the night away.

We thought she was just crabby, majorly overtired
but no! Those tears were not from being wired.

Her alligator tears were for us a big first
Our poor little Maggie was dying of thirst!

(Maggie drank 80% of the water in her sippy, then went down for bed without a single noise!)

We did Maggie's one-year portaits at the house this time. Her pictures turned out really great!

Whamo - Camo

Poppy got Maggie this cute real-tree camo dress for Christmas. A must-have for every little girl's wardrobe, don't you think? Maggie models the outfit with brown leggings and a turtleneck underneath. That was when we thought it would be cold today. I had to take the turtleneck off half-way through the day, it was 70 degrees out this afternoon! You will note in the prior post that we has snow on Saturday morning.

Maggie's First Breakfast with Daddy

Tyler's Dad had a tradition where he took the kids out for breakfast on Saturday mornings to give his Mom a break. Today he started that tradition in our family! Normally I would've taken the opportunity to sleep in, but I had wedding flowers to deliver that morning. And, we wanted to distract her from the fact that she didn't get to nurse when she woke up (we were down to just mornings anyway, and Friday was the last day of that). Daddy decided they should go to IHOP. According to Tyler, she ate 1 1/2 pancakes, 1 sausage link, 1/2 banana AND 1/2 of his hashbrowns!!! I have no idea where she puts all that food - she's only in the 30th percentile for weight. So they had a really nice morning together.

It is snowing again here, the snow makes the news like we got 3 feet overnight, not just the 1/2 inch that's really on the ground. If you look carefully, you'll see that Maggie's thumb is sticking out of her mitten. I had to cut the thumb off so she can suck it in the car. Maggie does not deal well with not having access to her thumb.

Maggie eats, a lot!

Here are two short videos of Maggie eating.
we have ventured into the land of eating with a spoon. She thinks it is a whole bunch of fun, and is getting better at it. I think she ate most of her oatmeal the other day by herself. It was still a big mess, but less mess than the soup day.

And here is Maggie getting cake from Daddy. We can't eat any kind of sweets around her without her going nuts for them, so desserts stay hidden until she goes to bed!

New Maggie Video - with sound effects!

Here's a clip from Daddy --
We finally got our new video camera in the mail (a single CCD Panasonic PV-GS85 for those who care). So, I started taking pictures of Maggie going up the stairs successfully for only the second time by herself. Then, I remembered all the fun cat noises Maggie is starting to make. So, I decided to get those on tape. We started out with me helping her but then Blitz came in and reminded her what cats sound like. The thing is, Blitz does not meow like other cats, he howls like a wolf. So now that's what Maggie thinks all cats sound like. That will be an embarrassing first day of kindergarten--oh well! Please enjoy this video--it's over four minutes but well worth all the Maggie cuteness.
Smell ya' later. Tyler

Snow Time!

We finally got some snow to match the freezing temps we've had in Nashville! There was about 1 - 1 1/2 inches when we woke up on Friday. Of course, Nashville schools were closed. Ug.
Maggie did not think having pictures in the snow was a good idea- you would've thought I buried her in snow by her fit. We were outside for all of 2 minutes, just long enough to take these pictures.
