Maggie's Last Boppy Picture

Here are Maggie's first and last boppy pictures. The first one was while we were still in the hospital, and what gave me the idea to take a monthly photo of Maggie to watch her grow. This other one was taken this afternoon - we didn't plan in the boppy picture yesterday, so we're a day late, but Maggie is just as cute today as she was yesterday.

Maggie's Big Day

Maggie turned one year old today. Tyler and I are so very thankful for our little girl, she has been such a blessing to us this part year!
We had a little birthday party for her with some of our friends here in Nashville, and Grampa and Gramma Spaid flew out for the festivities as well. She did really great the whole time. None of the kids cried, nothing was broken or spilled ... I'd call that a successful birthday party!

Here's Maggie helping me make cupcakes for her party.

I got this cute little cupcake tree at WalMart - how cute is that?!?! And I realize the frosting colors are a little nuclear (that's homemade buttercream frosting)...
We did a soup and breadsticks buffet: a veggie/tomato soup and a sausage & corn chowder (thanks to Sean & Becky Harrelson, this is our very favorite soup!)
This cupcake is Maggie's very first real dessert. We were strict parents not letting her have any sugar or dessert (really, I mean practically NO sugary foods) until today. She picked that frosted delight right up!
Maggie ate 75% of that cupcake in mere minutes. Not that much ended up on the floor. I think it's safe to say she likes chocolate!!!
Here are some of the kids at the party.
Opening gifts.
We forgot to dole out the party hats to the children until everyone had gone except Kelly and Savannah, so we popped one on Maggie and Savannah and took some pics.

Maggie's party was so much fun! Thank you to all of the people who came to make it that much more special.
We'll be having another "party" tonight at dinner and we'll open family gifts then. We'll post more pictures later on.

Soup's on me, Mom!

Maggie is getting to be such a big girl! She will hardly eat anything that requires a spoon these days UNLESS she gets to hold the spoon. Our adventure into self-feeding has begun - fingerfoods are not enough. So, last night we had some ABC vegetable soup. I really tried to feed it to her to avoid a big clean-up, but from the pictures below, you can see that didn't work out. I finally just let her have the bowl on her tray and gave her the spoon (she was a very good girl and didn't try to fling my bowl onto the floor). You would've thought I gave her a pound of chocolate she was so happy!!! She ate about 2/3 c. of soup all by herself. Now, as you can see not much of that was by spoon although she did alright with it, but she just ate with her hands for most of the meal. She needed a bath after this one!

Sick Maggie, again!

Maggie had another doozy of a sickness this week. A bad sinus and eye infection. We went to the doctor on Monday, and she was put on eye drops and antibiotics. Everything is clearing up nicely, but she did pass on her maladies to her Mama. I think this is the first time in my life I've had an eye infection- so gross!!!

And, at her appointment, she weighed in at 20 lbs, 3.5 ounces, and was 30.5 inches long. That means she can sit in a forward-facing car seat on her birthday. YAY YAY YAY!!! Thank you Gramma Sue for the new car seat.

Here are some pictures of maggie from Monday, when she was at her sickest. So pitiful sad!

We're Back! Here's the Damage

We got our new camera today. Here are some pictures I took of the damage to our door, and one of Maggie. Our insurance is all worked out (which is why I've got a new camera for pictures), and we should get this door fixed this weekend or Monday.
Here you can see the split in the door jamb - when I found it it was actually split about 1-2 inches apart. Tyler had to pound it back together so we could close the door.
The jamb ripped up the paper backing to the drywall adjacent to the door.
The nicely boarded up door, a must-have for this season's high backyard fashion!
And Miss Cutie-Pie herself, Maggie!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog for an important announcement:

We've been robbed! Seriously. Our home was burglarized Wednesday, and among the items taken: my video camera and digital camera. So, I will not be able to take new pictures of Maggie for a while. Now, her 1st birthday is coming up, and we'll have a camera and camcorder for that regardless of our insurance, so no one will miss out on those photos. Until we've got some new photographic equipment, I'll be posting pictures from Christmas, I guess.

All better!

Maggie is fully recovered from her stomach bug - she started feeling better on Saturday afternoon, and today is doing just fine. Except for the spoiled little girl I brought home from Seattle. That child can't stand to be put down for one minute! Ah, it's a long week ahead...

So about posting more Christmas pictures...

We have our first real, major, serious illness. Maggie picked up a bad stomach bug two days before we flew back home. We made the flight home without incident, but I've been covered in some serious baby vomit at least once a day now since Tuesday. She's been to the doctor 3 times this week, twice in Seattle to make sure we could still fly home, and once today to make sure she wasn't getting worse.

Right now my doctor says just to keep an eye on her and make sure she gets plenty of fluid (that means a teaspoon of pedialyte every 5 minutes), but absolutely no food for at least 24 more hours to see if we can't get her on the mend without her getting dehydrated from throwing up or the other one. The picture below is a small snapshot of the wreck our house is in. We came home with 5 bulging suitcases from Christmas. About half of it is still decorating our dining room since Maggie is sick. The cats think the suitcases are their new beds.

Family Snapshots

Happy New Year!

Ok, so I haven't posted any new Christmas photos, but I will. Here are some pictures from our family photos we did with the Spaids on the 28th.
Look at the little stinker's face!
